Multiple video monitors are placed directly unto the gallery floor, each facing inward so that their screens form a closed circle. Each monitor displays identical footage of a wheelchair entering the screen from the left and exiting from the right. Despite the uniformity of the footage, the distance between screens gives rise to the illusion of a finite number of wheelchairs leaving one monitor and ‘jumping’ to the next. As the wheelchairs enter and exit the white screens, careful placement of the monitor circle in relation to the surrounding walls establishes a pulsing effect from the changing levels of ambient light. Once every eight minutes or so the uniform speed of movement starts to dramatically accelerate until the image of the wheelchairs is completely obliterated.
